The Rye Brook Scouts is a chartered organization of Scouts BSA. We hold year-round activities for boys and girls in grades K-5. Our group is run by the parent volunteers of the kids whom the group serves.
Scouting is fundamentally an outdoor education program. Scouts learn basic preparation, safety procedures, and practical skills on hiking and camping outings. We visit with local ecologists and biologists who teach kids about the animals and plants of the region.
Scouts also focus on citizenship as well as health and fitness. We meet with public officials, visit local law enforcement and emergency services, and learn about local infrastructure. We learn about balanced meals and fun ways to stay active.
Scouts also pursue a wide range of explorational enrichment projects, in science, nature, art, and engineering.
